EVE Energy Empowers China's Electric Airship to Soar in Maiden Flight

2025.03.05

The electric manned airship AS700D independently developed by AVIC completed its first test flight in Hubei, marking a major breakthrough for China in the green aviation equipment field. Powered by high-performance batteries specially developed by EVE Energy for applications in the low-altitude flight industry, this 10-seat airship achieved zero-emission, low-noise flight, with a maximum speed of 80 kilometers per hour and a flight altitude of 3,100 meters.

As the first electric manned airship in China, AS700D has been fully upgraded for electrification based on traditional fuel airships. EVE Energy's lithium-ion battery system supports discharging at a maximum of 8C pulse and continuous output at a 3C rate, meeting the instantaneous power requirements of the airship under complex working conditions. At the same time, it adopts a double-layer module structure and a dual-pack parallel redundancy design to ensure safe operation even if a single pack fails.

During the first flight test, the airship successfully completed four vertical take-offs and landings, showing its excellent hovering stability and maneuverability. Pilots reported that the electric airship is easy to maneuver and comfortable to ride, with significantly reduced noise. "Tests have shown that the batteries provided by EVE Energy significantly improve the static balance of the airship and the take-off & landing maneuverability, ensuring its good performance and operability even in environmentally friendly and noise-sensitive areas," said Zhou Lei, the Chief Designer of AVIC Special Vehicle Research Institute.

This maiden flight comprehensively tested the maneuver and power characteristics of the AS700D electric airship, laying an important foundation for future product applications. EVE Energy will continue to research high-safety, high-energy-density battery technology to provide more diverse power supplies for China's aviation products, thereby contributing to the sound development of the Chinese low-altitude flight industry.
